Mission Fund - Thank You!

We have received a number of letters thanking us for donations from the Parish's Mission Fund. Read some extracts below!

Paul and Elaine Briers in South Africa
We sent £200 for their Christmas Appeal for Elderly people.
Paul and Elaine write:"'Thanks is just not enough for the way you showed generosity towards us and the people of South Africa this Christmastime.  ‘He who refreshes others will himself be refreshed’ Proverbs 11:25.  One of the homes which received gifts said: “The faces of the people as they received the gifts showed how much they appreciated them and they made a big difference to their lives.  It is good to see that there are people who are prepared to reach out and care for others.”

Prison Fellowship
"On behalf of the staff and trustees I am writing to thank you for your support of the work of Prison Fellowship volunteers throughout England and Wales.  £200 has gone to the Sycamore Tree programme working with prisoners to change their lives and £100 towards the Angel Tree programme sending presents to the children of prisoners.  It is amazing to know that there are so many people such as those in Hallwood who are committed to help make a difference to the lives of those affected by crime."

Biblelands
"Thank you for the generous donation of £150 from the Mission Fund.  Thank you for your generosity and compassion towards disadvantaged people in the Middle East.  Recently Biblelands has paid for repairs to a girl’s school which was letting in water and damp.  It is now safe and improved for the winter."

Friends of Mulanje Orphans in Malawi
"Thank you for the £170 that you sent for our work in Malawi.  We are supporting over 5000 children through a network of 13 centres in Mulanje district of Malawi. We cover all aspects of the children’s welfare including health through our outreach clinic, formal and informal education, food production and food security. The programme also covers pre-school, out of school activities and further learning through our playschools, computer, driving and tailoring schools. The programme also covers the provision of school materials, personal items (soap, clothes, blankets, mosquito nets) and community-based boreholes."

TearFund
"Thank you so much for your recent gift of £150.  Your donation will help our church partners across the world, working in poor communities like Shivnagar in Nepal.  This is a community of 300 families where, just 10 years ago, every man, woman and child was living in a form of bonded slavery.  Through the local church’s Love Your Neighbour scheme people are given a piglet.  Later they can sell the pig, which provides money for 2 piglets (one to give away, one to keep) as well as money to live on.  Your donation will bless people in ways like this."

Mission Aviation Fellowship
"On behalf of those overseas who will benefit from your concern, please accept our warmest thanks for your kind gift of £200.  Our flights to Dadaab in northern Kenya remain full as the famine relief efforts continue.  The team has also flown into Somalia – the first flight to that country for some time.  We carried a World Vision team whose projects included drilling boreholes, rehabilitating clean-water storage facilities as well as providing emergency feeding.  We are thankful that this flight was possible and ask for continued prayer for safety for our teams and the workers they transport into these areas."

The Methodist Church
"On behalf of the Methodist Church I would like to thank your church for the generous donation of £100 for The Mission in Britain Fund – it is sincerely appreciated."

Crosslinks
"Thank you for the recent gift of £150 from your church.  Your giving plays a vital role in enabling God’s word to be proclaimed through the ongoing work of our Mission partners in many countries.  Please pray for our Mission partners as they set out to tackle new plans and projects for exploiting evangelistic opportunities."

Interserve
"I am writing to thank you for the donation of £150 which enables us to continue God’s work in some of the world’s toughest places.  Bless you, because without your kindness and the generosity of supporters such as you, our work would simply be impossible.  Your prayers, financial support and encouragement are foundational to all that we do."

Mission India
"Thank you for your generous gift of £150 towards the work of Mission India.  In 2011 over 4.5 million children will be reached through our network of Bible Clubs across India.  There are 160,000 enrolled for our year long Bible-based Adult Literacy Classes.  Literacy transforms lives and communities.  The thirst for knowledge and the love of the Lord Jesus in India is unquenchable!  Thank you for your kind gift and prayer support that means we can reach out and see God do amazing things in India."

Christian Witness to Israel
"Thank you for your gift of £200.  We are very grateful for your support.  At Christmas time our field workers seek to share the Good News of Jesus with their Jewish friends and our prayer is that He may open the eyes of many."
